Two-Ingredient Sugar Donuts

Originally published on

This is a super-easy and cheap way to make donuts.  Because sometimes you just want a nice, fresh donut without having to do all the dough rolling or having to pay an arm and a leg.  So if you’re broke and in a hurry for a sugar fix, this is the recipe for ya!

Two-Ingredient Sugar Donuts

Ingredients:

  1.  One small can buttermilk biscuits (10 in a can)
  2.  Granulated sugar (in a ziploc bag)
Heat cooking oil over  medium heat.  When oil is ready, place each biscuit in the hot oil for a minute or two on one side, then gently turn each biscuit over with tongs or a spoon. Fry for another minute until golden brown.  Drain biscuit/donuts on a paper towel for a few minutes then place 2 or 3 biscuit/donuts in the bag of sugar; seal and shake.  The kids love to do the shaking part! Enjoy!

These donuts are very messy and you will have sugar everywhere unless you eat them over a plate, so be warned! They are also highly addictive and go really fast around kids :)
For something different, you can try adding cinnamon to the sugar bag, or try powdered sugar instead.  You can slather them with cake frosting for a yummy treat and it’s not quite as messy as sugar.  You can also inject some jelly or preserves into the donuts.  Raspberry is reeeeeally good.  Of course then, technically they wouldn’t be a Two-Ingredient Donut anymore but what the hey…rules are made for bending, right?
Extra thanks to my besties for keeping me motivated.  I truly love you guys <3
Oh and this is how I like to spell donut.  None of that o-u-g-h stuff for me thankyaverymuch.
